Skanksa wins further Norwegian road project

Skanska has secured the contract for the design and construction of the E10/rv 85 road project in northern Norway, including seven tunnels.

The contract awarded by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) is valued at NOK11.4bn (US$1.07bn). Skanska also secured the 15-year operations and maintenance contract for the road.

The E10/rv 85 Tjeldsund – Gullesfjordbotn – Langvassbukt is part of the transport link between Lofoten, Vesterålen Harstad/ Narvik Airport and the E6. The 82km road includes the construction and operation of seven new tunnels and 22 bridges.

It will be a pilot project for NPRA to test measures for sustainable development.

Skanska has started preparatory works and the construction phase for the project is expected to last for five-and-a-half years.

Last month NPRA awarded Skanska the contract to deliver a 2.3km section of the E18 motorway in Oslo. The design and build contract includes the 660m-long Høvik Tunnel and the 440m-long Gjønnes Tunnel, as well as local roads and pedestrian and cycle paths.
